PR – TE 10 Guadalope River Trail (Footbridges from Aliaga to Montoro de Mezquita)

The Guadalope river trail (PR-TE 10) is an attractive hiking route designed for those who love the rugged and broken landscapes of the mountains of Teruel. A trail that runs along the banks and canyons of the Guadalope River, communicating the mining district of Santa Barbara (Aliaga) with the Organs of Montoro (Villarluengo) and the connection with the GR 8.1, through the Straits of Valloré (Montoro de Mezquita). Its main attraction, apart from the breathtaking scenery, is that part of the route is walked on footbridges, which span the river canyons. You can start the trail in Santa Bárbara, in Aliaga, at the Thermal Power Plant, in Montoro de Mezquita or at the GR 8.1 connection. Keep in mind that the trail is linear, so it is important to plan ahead. On this page you have the link to the map and the profile of the route. You can make round trip sections, or leave a car at the start and another at the finish, or hire the service of cabs in the area, of which we leave you a list below, to transfer you to the car at the end. If you come in a group, remember that it is difficult to enter Montoro de Mezquita with a large bus. The road entrance tunnel is 4.70 m high and 5 m wide, but the road is very narrow and curvy. It is possible to enter with a bus of up to 35 seats, if you have more, it is better that the bus picks you up at the turnoff to Montoro, on the A-1702. And, above all, remember that this trail is not easy, as walking next to the river carries risks. Make sure you are in good shape, that the weather is favorable and that you are properly equipped. It is not recommended for small children, but if they go with you, keep an eye on them at all times and better if they go hand in hand. Do not take unnecessary risks!
