Two Merchant Towers – Trenches of the Civil War

In the region there are hardly any remains of the Civil War and one of the few that exist are the trenches of Dos Torres. Therefore, with this route, we want you to know part of the history of the region at the same time that you can enjoy an environment of great beauty.

From the main square of Dos Torres we start the route towards the Chorro (washing place). A dirt track leads us to the road (600 m). The route continues along a rocky trail on the other side of the asphalt road on a steep slope to the Balsa de La Solana (900 m). Then, continue along the cattle track to the Mercader pond (1.15 km) and the path narrows towards the gate that opens up between the large stone ledges (Seno path). In several zigzag loops, the trail leaves us above a first group of trenches (Position 1) (1.8 km), well restored by the local population. The itinerary continues along the forest track on the Loma de San Marcos, up to a second group of trenches and parapets (Position 2) (2.1 km).

Finally, we pass by the small Dos Torres chasm (2.5 km) and, after a couple of crossings of forest tracks, the route takes a pleasant path through the pine forest (4 km), descending again to the road (5.2 km). Thus, we continue to take the old asphalt road to the town.
