The laundry of Cantavieja today is a new enclosure that is located on the first floor of the building of the Cultural Center. At first glance, it might seem relatively new, but it already has many years of history. A photograph from the beginning of the century has been preserved showing the washhouse in its present location, with a good number of pools, partly covered, but not completely, and where the women knelt to wash, as was the style of the time.
Thus, the current washhouse is the result of the evolution of that one, but little is known about when it was modified. At some point, the pools were enabled to wash standing up, the washing stones were changed, etc. When the Cultural Centre Building was built in the mid-1970s, it was decided to keep it in its original location.
On occasions it has been used for cultural activities such as exhibitions, small concerts and performances.
