Fortanete’s Pinares de Fortanete Interpretation Center and Tejería

The laricio or black pine is the most abundant in the region because it is better adapted to this harsh and cold climate. The extensive areas populated by pine trees are used for grazing, collecting firewood, exploiting the charcoal pits, and obtaining other products such as mushrooms, but also resins, etc.

In the Centro de los Pinares we will learn about all these aspects in addition to a model of the Fortanete area. Outside there is a small botanical garden where you can learn about the most common plants in the region.

Right next to it you can see the remains of an old weaving factory, preserving the oven where tiles were baked and then covered the roofs of houses, farmhouses, corrals, etc..
