On April 15, 1564 they took possession of the hermitage of Santa Catalina Mártir, which became the church of the community, and of the houses of the hermitage, where the nuns had their habitation.

For three hundred years, it became a prosperous foundation that attracted vocations from Mirambel and the towns of the region, Cantavieja, Tronchón, Fortanete and other neighboring towns.

In 1855, after a cholera epidemic, the convent was in danger of disappearing. The few remaining nuns asked Isabel II for help to avoid its closure. The queen ordered the opening of a school for girls in which they acquired knowledge of grammar, geography, arithmetic, religion and catechesis. In addition, they acquired practical notions of linen cutting, sewing and mending.

During the Civil War the nuns had to return to their family homes and suffered the plundering of their property, but it was in 1980 when the nuns finally left the old convent of Mirambel, after more than 400 years of history, to move to Benicàssim where the community is still alive with the name of Convent of Our Lady of Mirambel.

Today you can visit part of the convent touring the refectory, the cells, etc., also in the transit areas there are several showcases with numerous books, objects of daily use, as well as samples of the work they performed.

The convent of Santa Catalina Mártir of Mirambel was founded by four Augustinian nuns from the convent of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza in Valencia.
