Ruta por la Riera
y Vega de Fortanete

It is a route of approximately 1.5 kilometers that runs along the Fortanete stream, as it passes through the town, and a stretch of meadow up to the Fuente del Juncar. Despite being a relatively short walk, due to the amount of birds that you can find, we recommend doing it with enough time and stopping to observe at different points, which marks the application, we have designed for this route.

The route

This is a linear route, which you can start at any point along the stream next to the urban case. However, and to follow an itinerary, we are going to start in the place called La Canaleta, at the exit of the village by the GR8 that goes to the Iglesuela. At the height of the hermitage of Loreto, in the place of La Canaleta, we will cross the river and our itinerary will begin. We will follow the course of the river towards the town center, overcoming the various bridges that we will find and entering, little by little, in a riverside vegetation and therefore rich in bird watching. We will leave the majestic stone bridge and the orchards and continue to the next wooden bridge, where we will cross it and begin, at this point, our journey through the fertile plain of Fortanete. It is a stretch of about 1km in which we will follow the path marked as the route of the hermitages, in the middle of cereal fields, which depending on the time of year you come, will look with all its splendor. We will leave the path of the hermitage of San Cristobal to the left and continue straight on our route until we find the Juncar fountain, where you can refresh yourself with “a good drink of water”.

The application

For this route, we have prepared an application that you can download with the QR code, which you will find on the different panels of the route or in the advertising itself. Through this application and, guiding your cell phone to different points of the route, you can view the birds found in the area, listen to their songs, and even know some anecdote that each of them. We want it to be a fun and enjoyable way to learn about our wildlife and enjoy a nice walk.
