Where the sky comes alive every night

Astrotourism or astronomical tourism

Have you ever done astrotourism and do you know what it consists of?

Astrotourism invites you to connect with the night sky, exploring the universe through the observation of stars, planets, constellations and atmospheric phenomena. More than a recreational activity, astrotourism promotes the conservation of the dark skies and fosters a deep respect for nature, science and the cultures that have looked at the firmament since ancient times.

This type of practice is carried out in rural areas, natural parks or dark sky reserves, where light pollution is minimal and a clear and spectacular view of the cosmos can be enjoyed.

  • Promotes the reduction of light pollution to protect ecosystems and improve the visibility of the starry sky.
  • It awakens scientific curiosity and promotes knowledge of the universe in a way that is accessible to all.
  • Respect for the natural and cultural environment as it is practiced in the environment, valuing both the natural heritage and the cultural traditions associated with the sky.
  • It favors the development of local communities without generating a negative impact on itself.

The skies of Maestrazgo

When night falls the sky becomes a spectacle of stars, constellations and planets. Having a space with low light pollution, as you can see in the map, is what characterizes the skies of Maestrazgo, which, together with an environment full of wide mountains, is a unique location to appreciate the sky. The Maestrazgo region is located between 804 m (Castellote) and 1424 m (Allepuz) above sea level, a strategic location to see the stars clearly.

All of them refer to constellations because, from this place, you can contemplate the night sky covered with stars like from nowhere else.
