Mycological preserve
The Maestrazgo region was a pioneer in the regulation of mushroom picking with the aim of enhancing the value and sustainable management of mycological resources and guaranteeing their conservation.
The harvesting of mushrooms in the forest lands of Aragon is regulated by DECREE 179/2014. In order to harvest, it is necessary to obtain a daily or weekend permit, together with a guide with information about the hunting grounds where it is possible to harvest, the objectives of the regulation, the rules, etc.
The guide provides necessary practical information on the basic rules and good practices in mushroom picking, how to obtain permits to pick mushrooms and the conditions on which mushroom picking is based to help you solve many of the questions you may have.
The neighbors, landowners and tenants manage the permits in the respective town halls. Meanwhile, visitors to the Mycological Preserve can purchase them online and also in various establishments of the territory, choosing between 3 types of permits; daily, weekend and annual. All of them have a collection limit of 12 kg/person/day.
The benefits generated by this system have a direct impact on the sustainable management of mycological resources. Likewise, this system provides an action tool to regulate and balance the harvesting pressure on the forests of our region according to the needs of the territory.
