Las Peraltas
and Sollavientos
This route is 5.3 km. one way, 11.3 km. if you do the complete route, and a little less if you go back and forth along the same path. It runs through very varied environments: a mountain river, pine forests, fresh meadows, hawthorns, willows and poplars trasmochos, a peaty lagoon and limestone cliffs. The bird community of mountainous environments stands out with species typical of the Eurosiberian environment. Along the way you will find numerous panels indicating the different habitats along the route and the birds that you can observe in each one: the river and the riverbank, the juniper and creeping junipers, the hawthorns, the high mountain pine forest and meadows and crops in enclosed areas. Bird watching is always more favorable during the early hours. There may be cows grazing, avoid disturbance. There are several fountains along the route, but little shade.
The route step by step
The route starts at the Masía de la Cambra, near the road between Valdelinares and Sollavientos, and descends towards the Sollavientos river through meadows and pine forests. After crossing the river, the path ascends along an old path to the val de las Peraltas, where there are several farmhouses and the Canaleta fountain. The route offers landscapes of meadows, dry stone walls and pine forests, with views of mountains such as Loma Bellida.
Further on, the valley narrows and the trail enters the forest until a crossing that leads to a divide with panoramic views of the Alto de la Nave and the Zaragozana. It then descends towards the river again, passing near Mas Royo, and follows the riverbank between willows and poplars. At this point you will be very close to the hermitage of Santa Isabel de Sollavientos.
From here the route is not signposted or interpreted, but it is an alternative to return to the beginning. After fording the river, the route continues to a road near Mas de Palomar. From there, it takes a track that crosses the divide between the basins of the Alfambra and Guadalope, passing by a monumental juniper and the Atalaya lagoon. Finally, the path returns to the Sollavientos valley and ends at the starting point, the Masía de la Cambra.
