The hermitages dedicated to the Virgin of Loreto are quite common in the mountain range of Gúdar and Maestrazgo. Most of them were built in the 17th century.
The one of Cantavieja presents the characteristic distribution of the hermitages with this dedication. It has a rectangular floor plan with a front atrium of four columns supporting a carved wooden eave. It had an altar that disappeared during the Civil War, when it was apparently used for other purposes and a fire was lit inside.
Today there are some frescoes by Benigno Rabaza and his father, local painters, and a few years ago the paintings on the dome were cleaned and restored.
