Common Crossbill

Loxia curvirostra

Its beak is specialized to feed on pine nuts, so it is closely linked to pine forests. It usually goes down the roads to feed on the salt that is thrown to melt the ice, which is a risk, even being run over. It nests mainly in winter, just when this phenomenon occurs more frequently.
