Burhinus oedicnemus

A long-legged steppe bird that breeds on the ground, with a distinctive call. Its large yellow eyes are a key adaptation for hunting and activity during twilight and night. It feeds on terrestrial invertebrates (insects, worms, snails, etc.) and some small vertebrates.
