The conference, promoted by tourism and development organizations of the territory, is committed to a model of sustainable tourism linked to the natural, cultural and gastronomic heritage of Maestrazgo.
Villarroya de los Pinares will celebrate on May 23, 2026 the first edition of the Maestrazgo Ecotourism Festival, an initiative created to highlight the natural, cultural and heritage resources of the region through participatory activities aimed at all audiences.
The conference was born thanks to the collaboration between Maestrazgo Tourist Association (MAT), the Tourism Department of the Maestrazgo Region, the Association for the Development of Maestrazgo (ADEMA) and the Maestrazgo Cultural Park, entities that have joined forces to promote an event focused on ecotourism, sustainability and responsible development of the territory.
This first edition aims to become a meeting point for neighbors, visitors and professionals linked to sustainable tourism, promoting a way of traveling and enjoying the environment based on respect for the environment, heritage conservation and support for the local economy.
Throughout the day, Villarroya de los Pinares will host proposals that will allow you to discover the richness of Maestrazgo from different perspectives. The program includes a market of local products and crafts, guided tours, children’s workshops, cultural experiences, gastronomy and activities related to the natural and geological heritage of the territory.
Among the highlights are the virtual visit to the Geopark of Maestrazgo, the exhibition dedicated to the paleontological sites of the province of Teruel, an open day at the Interpretation Center of the Order of San Juan del Hospital, as well as children’s workshops on stone carving and pottery, designed to bring traditional crafts and heritage to the youngest.
The program also incorporates gastronomic experiences linked to local products, such as a wine tasting and tasting of local products, reinforcing the event’s commitment to responsible consumption and support for local producers.
The Maestrazgo Ecotourism Festival is also committed to revitalize the municipality and promote a respectful and seasonal tourism, capable of generating sustainable economic opportunities in rural areas. The initiative focuses on values such as landscape conservation, the enhancement of endogenous resources and environmental awareness.
The event will be completed with cultural and participatory proposals, such as a theatrical performance, a concert and a photographic route through the municipality open to all attendees.
The organizing entities emphasize the importance of continuing to promote joint initiatives to help position the Maestrazgo as a reference destination for sustainable tourism and authentic experiences linked to the territory.
The official opening of the day will take place at 10:30 am in the Town Hall Square of Villarroya de los Pinares. Some activities require prior registration due to limited capacity.
