Rebollón – Saffron milk cap

Lactarius deliciosus (L.) Gray (1821)

By far the best known and collected mushroom in the forests of Maestrazgo. It is mycorrhizal with pine and fructifies at the end of summer and in the autumn months. It is orange in color, with a brittle stem and secretes a characteristic orange latex. Together with L. deliciosus , other species of chanterelles also develop and are also good edible: Lactarius sanguifluus, which secretes reddish latex and Lactarius semisanguifluus, with orange latex that turns red in a few seconds.
