The Silent Route was inaugurated in 2018 and in these six years of walking it has not stopped increasing its visitors. Everyone wants to know why this route is so attractive and why it has become so famous.
Three years after its inauguration, the regions of Maestrazgo and Andorra Sierra de Arcos, promoters of the project, celebrated the first edition of Silent Ambassadors. With this we wanted to reward in some way those who walk the route and share their experience in networks, as well as those who have helped in some way to its dissemination.
The first ambassadors of the route were appointed in June 2021. On that occasion they were the bikers Leticia Marcuello and Rubén García, who also gave us several drawings of Silent places that became calendars, the hikers Rosa Pérez and Carlos Precioso, Ernesto Pastor, cyclist and creator of the bikepacking routes Montañas vacías, and Quique Arenas, director of the magazine Motoviajeros and one of the main responsible for the success of the Silent.
This year 2024 those selected to hold the ambassadorial recognition were:
The collective Moteras Salvajes, a group of women who often enjoy their motorcycle rides together and, on several occasions, have visited the Silent, posting their photos, very funny and carefree, on their social networks.
Surya Bikepacking, lovers of pedals, who were already riding the road before they even had a name for it, who love to ride the Silent on their vintage bikes and recommend it.
Bea and Robert, or what is the same, Traveling Germ. Two experienced roadtrippers who love to travel the world in their van and tell about it, and so they did after their travels along the Silent Route, a place they often pass through on their way to new adventures.
Also recognized were the journalist and biker, traveler by profession, Gustavo Cuervo, and Gema de los Reyes, inveterate traveler and photographer. They organized the first edition of the Mototourism Awards, when the Silent was recognized as the best National Route, and also the second, an event that took place at the Hotel la Trucha, in the middle of The Silent Rute.
Finally, the “official car” of the Silent was named, in an affectionate way, the Jeep Viasa owned by Oscar Ginés, who proudly wears the logo of the route wherever he goes.
The event was held at the Nature Interpretation Center of Villarluengo on Friday, May 17, and during the ceremony the ambassadors received a diploma and a badge: the logo of the route made of a cut-out sheet with their name on it.
Now it is expected that the new ambassadors will live up to their name and be disseminators and defenders of the route. This act is a thank you to the thousands of visitors that the route receives each year and who are prescribers of the route among their friends and acquaintances.
The Silent Route has made our territory even better known, has attracted new segments of visitors and has contributed to the deseasonalization of tourism, since every day and at any time of the year there is someone traveling this road full of surprises that leaves no one indifferent.
