At the beginning of February the Comarca del Maestrazgo presented the fruit of several months of work. It is the White Book of beautification of the villages of Maestrazgo.
This book is the result of the hard work carried out by the team of architects of the Santa María Foundation, led by Doctor of Architecture Ana Almagro, and by the renowned lighting designer Marta Coda, who have analyzed the current night lighting in the towns of the Maestrazgo and have also drawn up recommendations for each one.
It is an innovative project, created to address the heritage and lighting needs of Maestrazgo from the perspective of conservation, restoration, beautification and energy efficiency.
The document is the result of a thorough investigation of each of the municipalities that make up the region and aims to provide general guidelines for the entire territory, common and applicable to all, to ensure the preservation of the heritage and landscape values that characterize the Maestrazgo as a territory.
Above all, this document is intended to be useful and practical for the municipalities and for the region, addressing both beautification and night lighting criteria, with the clear objective of facilitating the task of management, control and execution of the interventions in the complexes by the municipalities, the neighbors and the region.
In addition to the general guidelines, each town council has been given a detailed study of its municipality. To begin with, several actions will be undertaken, one per municipality, including the restoration of the trinquete of Allepuz, the façades of the churches of Bordón, Molinos and La Iglesuela del Cid, the hermitage of Los Pueyos de Cuevas de Cañart, the fountain, washing place and watering place of Pitarque, the portal of the walls of Villarluengo, the atrium of the Church of Villarroya, etc.
In addition, the area of the Fortanete orchards will also be restored, where, in turn, an exemplary ornamental lighting will be installed to serve as an example of efficient night lighting for all the towns of Maestrazgo and that, surely, will become an incentive to revisit this charming place.
This white paper will undoubtedly become the roadmap for the coming years.
