Joaquín Jovellar

1819-1892

A career military officer, close to O’Donnell, he supported the revolution of 1968 and was captain general of Cuba. In 1874 he was appointed general commander of the Army of the Center, directing the operations over Cantavieja the following year. He was Minister of War on several occasions.
