He fought in the first war under the orders of Quílez, in the war of the matiners and in 1873 he was appointed general commander of Lower Aragon. He organized the Almogávares del Pilar battalion. He stood out in the action of Villafranca del Cid, seized Daroca and entered with his men in Cariñena.
